The other week, I was on a cruise with my band Delta Rae with some other amazing bands, like Train and Fitz and the Tantrums. Events like are always a blast, but this one was extra special, because the music TRULY swept me away.
I was physically on stage behind the drum kit, but every other part of me was transported to another realm:
1: A place of joy (drumming is fun!)
2: A place of nostalgia (some of these songs are 10+ years old and I have endless memories recording and performing them).
3: A place of community (our fans have grown up with us, and have gotten married to our songs, engaged to our songs, and even had our music at memorial services.
Music is powerful, and can transport the listener and performer to amazing places. Overall, music's unique ability to connect us to our emotions, transcend language and cultural barriers, heal and soothe, and connect us to memories makes it a truly magical and powerful art form.
