Playing music is, I think, the ultimate activity to bring people together. When I’m on the road with Delta Rae, we often times bring out an extra guitar player to help round out our sound. More often than not, the “nice to meet you” handshake turns into inside jokes and late night deep conversations within just a couple of days.
Playing music with other people, by its very nature, is vulnerable, exposes strengths (and weakness), forces dynamic verbal (and nonverbal communication), and provides opportunity for leadership.
