I’m in the studio with my band Delta Rae in the desert of El Paso, TX, working on our 3rd studio album! There are 6 band members, including myself and being cooped up in the recording studio is like having a magnifying glass on us, both personally and professionally.
In Delta Rae, we each take on various responsibilities, such as financials, marketing, creative, and logistics. Although we each have our ‘boxes’ of roles, if someone needs assistance in his or her work we will cross over and help get the work done. Even though our end-of-the-day product is live and recorded music, it takes real teamwork to get there.
Sound similar to your work environment? You might have specific parts of your job, but occasionally need to wear a different hat…it’s no different than with my band! Bands are indeed small businesses that have very similar problems, conflicts, and solutions as most companies.
